A Modern Problem
While homes built before 1980 are most likely to contain asbestos, ACMs were only banned in the U.S. as of March 2024.
Commercial Compliance
Asbestos is highly regulated by the EPA & Colorado Dept of Public Health. All remodel, renovation & demolition projects in CO require an asbestos inspection regardless of age of construction.

We used M.A.R.S. Environmental for a complex radon mitigation issue in our historic house, built in 1892. They installed a unique mitigation system that is doing a fantastic job with a difficult basement. Highly recommend!

FAQs
First, determine the condition of the ACM. If there is no current damage, and future damage is highly unlikely, it can be best to simply leave the ACM alone. On the other hand, if there is any damage at all, or if disturbance is likely or forthcoming, consult with a licensed abatement professional immediately. M.A.R.S. Environmental can help design and manage the abatement project, and recommend a high-quality local abatement specialist.
